CapyDo vs One Task
By Camille ·
These two agree on the idea. One task in front of you, a widget you tap to finish it, no folders and no priorities.

Where your tasks are stored
One Task keeps your tasks in itself and syncs them over iCloud. Its developer is explicit that there is no automatic integration with other to-do apps, and suggests copying tasks over by hand. That is a real design position, and it has an upside: the app is meant to hold only what you are committed to doing today, so it stays short. CapyDo takes the other route and reads the Apple Reminders you already have, but you decide what it looks at: a Today filter that shows only the tasks due today, or an empty list where you write down just what comes to mind.
Which iPhone you need
The current version of One Task asks for iOS 26, which rules out the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, and any iPhone you have not updated. CapyDo asks for iOS 15.1, and iOS 17 for the widget, because that is the version that lets you tick a task off from the widget itself. On an iPhone XS or XR, or one still on iOS 17 or 18, you get all of CapyDo. Checked on 14 September 2026, and worth checking again if you are reading this much later.
Where each one goes further
One Task goes further across Apple hardware, including Apple Watch and Vision Pro, which CapyDo does not do for now.
CapyDo goes further into the day itself: Organize your day builds the order with you and hands you one task after another, and past five tasks it tells you that is already ambitious. When you are done, the capybara takes a bath and the app tells you to stop.
Which one is for you
Choose One Task if
- You would rather keep a short set for today, separate from everything else you have noted down.
- You want it on Apple Watch or Vision Pro.
- Your devices are all on the latest Apple systems.
Choose CapyDo if
- Your tasks are already in Apple Reminders and you do not want to copy them anywhere.
- Your iPhone is an XS or XR, or still on iOS 17 or 18.
- You want help putting the day in order.
- You want something that helps you do a little every day, and tells you when you have done enough.
Questions people ask
My iPhone cannot run iOS 26. Does CapyDo still work?
Yes. CapyDo needs iOS 15.1, and iOS 17 for the widget, because that is the version that lets you tick a task off from the widget itself. The current version of One Task asks for iOS 26, so it does not install on an iPhone that stays below that.
Do I have to use the Apple Reminders app to use CapyDo?
No. CapyDo keeps your tasks in Apple Reminders, but you never have to open the Reminders app yourself. You can point CapyDo at an empty list and write down only what you mean to do, which is close to how One Task works, or turn on the Today filter to see just the tasks due today.
Does CapyDo work on Apple Watch?
No. CapyDo runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac. If the Watch matters to you, that is a point for One Task.
